I purchased the Crash Course back in May 2019. Your analytical approach is very useful as poker is a hobby for me I use to help keep my mind sharp. It may sound crazy, but I really look forward to the “off table” work necessary to become a better player. I play $1/2, and this work clearly gives me an advantage over the typical adversary.
As is the case for most players, I need to improve my hand reading. I purchased your workbook, and it’s incredible. As you are aware and state often, it’s not easy going through these hands, but the more work you put in off the table, the easier it gets on the table. The knowledge and concepts drilled in the workbook are varied, but I need to thank you first off for showing me the proper way to calculate EV. I saw from player feedback that I wasn't the only one who had created their own unique (read wrong) way to do the calculation.
I’m getting a kick, as well as learning a lot by coming home and running hands through Flopzilla that I played at the table. One thing that has helped me while at the table in real time is to run break even EV hand equity calculations first, then visualize combos and compare them to the break even scenario. This way, I don’t necessarily have to have the exact combo count correct, just a relative comparison to what my break even is telling me. In other words, if my break even hand equity is 20%, I don’t need to grind whether the actual number is 30 or 40%. It’s over 20%, so I call. Not perfect by any means, but baby steps toward where I want to be.
I would like more practice with hands to improve my ability to do this in real time at the table. The Hand Reading Lab seems like a good fit except I already have some of the items mentioned. I already have the workbook and Flopzilla. Plus I apparently missed the special price in early December. Will you be putting the Lab on a special price in the future? FYI, I also have purchased the audio and hard copy versions of Optimizing AK. I will also be buying a hard copy of the Poker Math Book when it's available on Amazon.
Please advise when you get a moment, and happy holidays to you.
