2018 Goals and Graphs!

Jason HallJason Hall Red Chipper Posts: 34 ✭✭
Let me introduce myself, I am new to RedChip. I play $1/$3 about 40-50 hours per month. I do work full time but really enjoy poker. I am in management with an oil and gas company here in North Texas. I live about 10 miles from Winstar Casino and spend just about all of my time playing there. I would like to have somewhere to post results and hand histories to get feedback. I don't know if this is the right forum or not (Please move if this needs to be somewhere else.) Anyways on to the graphs, since everyone likes to see those.

Below is my $1/$3 stats and graph, I feel that my game has been drastically improving over the last 3-400 hours of play.

Below is my $1/$2-$1/$3 combined stats and graph.

Below is my dreaded roller coaster $2/$5 stats and graph. (I haven't played this game in awhile and feel that my game is much stronger than it was when I was last playing $2/$5)

As of 2/12/18 I decided to set some money aside specifically for poker. I pulled $1,400 out and bought black chips for my dedicated starting bankroll for $1/$3. It is a small bankroll but like I said I have a good job and it I can add to it if needed. I would like to get it up to $5,000 by 4/30/18. I would also like to start taking shots at $2/$5 when my bankroll gets up to about $2,500-$3,000. I have also set a goal of 500 hours for 2018 and a profit of $12,500 which I think very attainable. I will try to post hands in here for feedback. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! I hope to have some hands to post in the next few days.

Graph looks nice and your hourly rate is also pretty nice. Im wondering about your 55% win rate. Seems pretty low for a good hourly and sample size. I was going to suggest moving up but at 55% i don't know if you should. Look forward to seeing some HH. This is the best forum for HH review.

Thanks Austin, I play a pretty laggy high variance style. I'm guessing that has something to do with win percentage. I feel like that will start getting better as I have been improving and working on my game more in the last year, I guess we will see!

I forgot to add my stats so far for 2018. I will add those here, it looks I can't edit the first post for some reason.

Well I will be going to play tonight, hopefully I get some interesting hands to post. My current bankroll is $1,926 from the $1,400 start. I will update when I get home tonight or tomorrow morning. "Good Luck Me" That's what I usually say when I get all in!

First hand after getting to $1/$3 game.

First hand at table, pulling chips out of my pocket as I’m being dealt cards and just said I’m playing $200 because I just transferred and didn’t know how much I had from last game.

    A♠k♣ 1/3 200 eff

    3 limps
I make it 15 cut off

    3 callers

    A♦K♦J♣ ($60)

Check to me I bet $25

    BTN call
    BB call

    Turn 9❤ ($135)

Check to me I bet $65
    BTN fold
    BB calls and checks dark

    River 4♠ ($265)

I shove for $95, he calls

Preflop raise should be closer to $25. Your begging for a four way pot as $12-$15 is pretty standard open. $12+3limps... Overall play is pretty weak betting. I wouldn't mind small bets if the board wasn't so draw heavy. Td9d has a ton of equity and hands like AT shouldn't fold for say $40. If you bet 40 on the flop and get two callers it will be turn ($180) with 145 behind, so makes it a pretty easy shove and denies them odds.

    2/17/18 - Session -$339 - BR $1,587 - We'll try again later!

Well I had a pretty rough session last night, I got in the game for $1,000 and ended up cashing out for $661 for a loss of $339. I was in a pretty good game and just couldn't the stars to line up! I got it in one time pre with KK vs AK and lost for about $320 and I also got it in pre with AK suited against TT and lost. I will post a few hand histories below.

Thanks, I actually didn't realize how weak the sizing was until I went back and read this. I am usually very confident playing post flop so I don't mind going to the flop 4 ways with AK because I can always fold as well. I do like the idea of bigger sizing on all streets though. I will try this next time. My standard open in 1/3 is about $15, I will start to add $3 per limper for my next session and see how it goes. I do appreciate the response to the hand!

Your beating the 1/2 and 1/3 consistently at 8bb/ , thats really good! I heard there is some scary pros at 2/5 their. I think thats the largest/busiest poker room if not second or third in the world. Great place to be close to. Watch out for those 2/5 guys, 1/3 seems to be the perfect sweet spot, to not multiway like 1/2, and avoid those guys that think they are poker gods or something. I think there is this guy there thats been grinding since they opened. It was just a tent I hear. wish we had a place like that in Ohio. Good luck, you graph looks good. mine used to look like that, then it looked like the stock market 2008. :) is the old tough lady skinny w/ short white hair still their? watch out for her.
what do u think the differnce was between 1/3 and 2/5? Why the drastic variance, what caused that?jquabwumwx4r.jpg

I found this from a lonnng time ago.lol, crazy guy threw his zippo in the pot.

Thanks Richard, there are some good pro's at the 2/5 and 5/10 level at Winstar. I do love the poker room and the staff there. I actually dealt poker there from '05 to '11 and quit for another job offer in '11. Thanks for the compliments on the graph! The old tough lady is still there! My 2/5 was a mixture of a lot of things. I ran pretty bad but played pretty bad as well. I play pretty well in the 1/3 games when we get 2-300 BB's deep. When I got that deep in 2/5 I played like a passive fish. I do plan to play it again this year and try to change that though.

    Hand from session 2/17/18

    $1/$3 - $300 effective

    UTG - :Kh:Qc raise to $15
    CO and BB call

    :Jh:9d:4s ($45)

BB checks, I bet $25 and both call. I am betting here with some equity and feel with it being a rainbow board it should get through quite a bit. If I only get called once, I can barrel quite a few turn cards as well.

    :Jh:9d:4s - Turn :6h ($115)

I surrendered at this point, check around

    :Jh:9d:4s:6h - River :5c ($115)

    check around

    CO has KT
BB has 74 - weird call after CO called.

    Hand from 2/17/18

    $1/3 - $700 effective

UTG - Opens to $21- Very loose active guy - Stack has gone from $1,500 to $200 back to about $1,500 - Calling just about any size 3 bet after he opens

UTG 1 - Calls $21 - Just sat down has about $600 in front of him - Looks like - Mid 50's tight recreational player

fold around to me in the BB

BB- :Ks:Kh - I make it $155 - I don't think UTG is ever folding to this raise so I wanted to go big.

    UTG and UTG 1 Call

    :JH::JC::AS: - ($465) in the pot.

I just decide to give up on this board as I can't beat anything. I check, UTG bets $200 and UTG 1 goes all in for about $445 total and UTG snap calls with AJ- UTG 1 had a Jack as well.

Wow, we're like the same person. Also a part time player. Last year my goal was 500hrs of play and $12k profit. I got the hrs and got about 70% of the profit. This year I started with a $1500 roll for 1/2(with the only true goal being to play 700hrs). Started taking shots at 1/3 almost right away and am up to $3700. Plan to bounce between 1/2 and 1/3(1/3 games are not always available and/or good) until I hit ~$8k and then start taking shots at 2/5. Good luck man!

@Jason hall can you post HH in a separate thread?

Example 3 way with KQ on J9x, despite being rainbow hits callers range. You will have to double or triple barrel quite often unimproved to make your cbet profitable. Besides T, Q, K, A there are not many cards you can barel. Even K or Q is some what scary cause you make top pair, but it completes some straights and two pair combos in their range. I think a flop is best served as a check.

Yeah I agree with you on that, should I make a separate post for each HH in the Live Poker Hands section or can I just make one post and update it with new hands. I just think it would be easier for me to find all of my feedback on hands if it was in one thread.

I am about an hour from Wichita Falls in Gainesville Texas. I am about 10 miles south of Winstar. Next time you are in town if you come to Winstar I will buy you a beer!

Separate is better, so the HH advice doesn't get mixed up in the comments. It will be easy to find depending on the title.

Oh man I didnt know you were a dealer there! I was good friends with ET he actually brought me from 1/2 to the 2/5 level before he left us. May he rest in peace. I left after that whole thing. The dealers used to be very cool there. Is this Brandon? Or Austin? That would be funny. If you see Rose tell her shes the best. Is Caral still walways upset?

No I use to live with Austin, and I’m buddies with Brandon. I will tell rose you said hello. My name is Jason Hall!

    2/18/18 - Session +$233 - BR $1,820

I booked a small win tonight, played OK I think. Had AA 3 times and had to fold all 3 on the turn! Other than that not a whole lot of interesting hands. I will post the hands that I did play in the live poker hand section. On the plus side, my wife bought me an apple watch today which is pretty cool!

Stats so far for the year, I have had kind of a break even period for the last week or so.

And my chip picture, I was hoping to be over 2k by now but no luck!
