    I am currently reading Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. He is a respected science journalist who really exposes all of the bad science, money , and politics behind the current norms for nutrition guidelines. But it's a thick read so if you want the short version, catch Fat Head the movie and blog post by Tom Naughton. The bottom line, per these guys, is that good fats are good for the brain whereas sugars and processed carbs are, well, not.
