What's Your Plan to Get Back to Playing Live? Or Did You Quit Live to Begin With?

I quit playing all live poker in March 2020, about the time that I was told to start working from home. I haven't played live poker since but then but have been playing a lot on Poker Mavens (normal home games) and on Bovada. My normal home games have not went back to live yet and I'm not sure when they will go live. My underground games started back in early May 2020 and I have been told that I'm one of the last holdouts. I'm trying to figure out what my game plan is for returning to live play. As of right now, I don't know what that game plan or timeline entails.

I'm curious to everyone's thoughts and plans here of getting back to playing live now that underground games are running and poker rooms are opening back up?

I got invited to a private game yesterday and declined. I'm waiting to see if everything opening back up will result in a spike in cases or not, which will probably take 4-6 weeks.

    Pros: Play poker
Cons: Catch the 'Rona and die

Having said that, I am pretty curious about returning. I don't have connections to underground games, so I'd be restricted to the new "4-handed" for live players at a casino. I don't have too much experience playing short handed, so I'd have to research adjusting opening frequencies for 4-handed (perhaps use co,btn,sb,bb ranges?).

One option is to go play immediately upon reopening. We would at least get some play time and I'd assume that there may be some nice comp deals to attract people. The other would be waiting 2-3 more weeks and see if(when) people get sick and they shut down the casinos again.

Taking a wait and see approach here in Vegas. I reduced my live play a few months before the wheels fell off, mostly due to cumulative disgust with the way many live players act at the table. So I'm in no hurry to get back.

I am in no hurry to get back here in the Philippines.

More of an existential question: If I was on a downswing when this all hit, am I still on a downswing, or do we all start at even again? Is this the longest downswing of my life??? LOL

I am in the wait and see camp too.

Palm Beach Kennel Club(FL) reopened yesterday with 6 handed games, no plexiglass with some stupid claim that "table isolation"(no table changes, same dealer, same chips/cards) would magically keep everyone safe.

Hard Rock Tampa FL is also open with 6m tables but at least they have plexiglass.

I would really love to play a bunch of live 6m poker so maybe the silver lining is that 6m poker will be more common in casinos.

I’m a member of the wait to see what happens in Florida over the next six weeks club.
