Does anyone have a good tip on where to get your room in Vegas? If possible, not too expensive and many poker rooms nearby. Downtown falls flat, doesn't it?

wide open question, do you want inexpensive with a lot of non gaming options and a friendly room? South Point. Do you want high dollar games and room costs are secondary? Aria. If you are more specific it is easier to answer the question.

First, thanks for the answer. I'm looking for something where you can walk to most of the poker rooms. Have been there several times and have run from Wynn to Mandalay before. But you get older and more comfortable (46). I have mostly stayed at Ellis Island so far. Is that Ballys, Linque or Flamingo better? - Southpoint is clearly outside, but also has a poker room and is so much cheaper? Then the Orleans works too, right? Are there any good poker promotions in the rooms if you play for 6 hours or longer? I didn't want to spend more than $ 100 a night on average, I'm usually there for 3 weeks. Thank you, if someone knows an insider tip.

Before I moved here I usually stayed at Bally's. It hit a decent balance between comfort, price, and location. Not sure of the current poker promos, although the Flamingo likely has one. Given you're planning a long trip, it's likely worth contacting the poker room to see if they have a poker room rate.

I have stayed at Excailbur a few times for the cheap room rate as well as being within walking distance of a few rooms. They had a poker rate last time I stayed if you played an average of 6 hours a day got $25 knocked off hotel bill in addition to the small comps per hour. Basic room but cheap (almost free with the discount)

Downtown has one wonderful poker room (Golden Nugget) and one fair to poor room (Binions i believe is closed due to Covid). Downtown Vegas your a short ride away from some other poker rooms like Red Rock Casino (enjoyed poker here), Poker Palace (games only friday and saturday nights).

Last time I stayed downtown (pre covid a year ago) there was a free shuttle that ran from California (downtown) and the Fremont (downtown) to Sams town (has poker room) and the strip (Harrahs) I used this a few times for free rides. Another option to check out.

Red Rock is quite a haul from either downtown or The Strip. I think I've been downtown once in the last decade. No need for poker or much of anything else IMO.

Ive always enjoyed the games at Golden Nugget for the uncapped games and seeing $100 bills in play. Sorta fun for a low stakes player like myself to see occasional people buy in for $2000 or more at a 1/2 NL game. Changes the whole dynamic. But there is not much else downtown for poker worth your time.

TheGameKat is right about Red Rock. It is quite a bit further from Downtown than I thought. I remember walking from the Golden Nugget to Red Rock (long walk). I didnt remember that it took 4 hours according to google.

If you are looking for a soft poker room, SouthPoint is the call. Granted it's at the "Tip of the Strip" but, it's worth it. I used to sling drinks there and did some serious damage in there poker room.

I also enjoy playing at Golden Nugget when I'm downtown. The 1/2NL is pretty wild. I heard stories from regs there that players have bought in for $10k+ for a 1/2NL game.

That's not a walk, that's a half marathon lol. I've been to Red Rock once but I still can't believe you walked there from Golden Nugget lmao.

I think provided you avoid mornings and a room with a freeroll promotion, all Vegas $1/$2 games are soft. SouthPoint is a bit more "2003 classique" in that just v-betting works.

For an alternate spin on this, if you are visiting Vegas with your main goal to play poker, where would you stay if you want to minimize walking? Would like to stay somewhere nice, but not outrageous. Thinking like Aria/Mirage price range.

The only time I stayed somewhere as nice as Aria was when Party Poker was footing the bill.

Mirage doesn't currently have a poker room, but there you'd be in comfortable walking distance of Wynn/Venetian/Bellagio/Bally's. As noted above, my preference was to go a little cheaper and opt for Bally's. Probably because I used to live just north of Encore, it's been years since I've played further south on the Strip. But some people really like the room at Aria, so if Aria is in your price range that might be the obvious option. I always enjoyed the flexibility of central Strip, but with Mirage and Harrah's closed I guess it's less compelling than it used to be.
