How about different poker venues and how the rake or drop effects the way the game plays.

    Time drop vs fixed drop
Buy in size (min buy in vs max buy in size)
    10 handed vs 9 handed
    Promos vs no promos etc

There were days when stud games were popular, then holdem, and now what?

Free form discussion with RCPers and the questions they have

I loved the Mental Advantage videos with James and Dr. Cardner. There was a really cool vibe between the two of them. I would love to hear a conversational podcast with the two of them discussing the subject of coaching players.

It would be interesting to hear it from the technical side (James) and mental side (Dr.Cardner). Something like most common pitfalls, questions, struggles, etc. Two smart people discussing how they go about coaching individuals and what they feel is interesting in doing so.

How about an interview with a floor manager or dealer you have respect for and could give us an alternate take on things?
  • SplitSuitSplitSuit RCP Coach Posts: 3,928 -
Thanks for continuing to add suggestions!

    @persuadeo this is planned
    @ChipXtractor good idea
@ArtArtBobart a live discussion or an episode where we answer questions that you guys send in?
@blaster it would be a pretty sad episode =(
@philby20 I may be able to convince Doug to do that one =)

How about how to use board texture and handreading to construct post-flop lines?

likely makes for a better video than podcast since it would be so visual. Have you seen Doug Hull's "Range Construction" videos in the PRO Membership yet?

I can dig that. I'll float it =)

How about a podcast episode talking a bit about home/club games. These games can play very different from casino games for a ton of reasons. Maybe get someone who runs/plays in a few different home/club games to have a chat about the differing dynamics involved.

I'd be interested in a podcast on creating better lines with draws. Any videos available on this in fact? Maybe this is too technical to delve into for the sake of a podcast, just a thought!

I could add a bit as well.

Appreciate that but I would be a bad choice. I don't really play in all that many home games. I also have very little experience in organization/maintenance of a game. No doubt we have quite a few RCP forum members who have a ton of experience in this area.

This is ambitious, but how about an anecdotal version of Miller's "Playing the Player" for our current games? Here's the idea: volunteer Red Chippers at each stake (1/2 or 1/3, 2/5, 5/10+) provide brief interviews about the top 5 mistakes that their opponents are making, and how they can profitably exploit those mistakes. Possibly a multi-part podcast?

Simple Idea: You have done SPR articles, SPR videos. How about an SPR podcast?
  • SplitSuitSplitSuit RCP Coach Posts: 3,928 -
I find concepts like SPR to be better in a visual medium. It can be tough to visualize SPR while driving to/from work =)

    Fair enough.

I was just thinking about the way I use some of your podcasts. The range reading podcast, the hand planning podcast, etc., I will listen to while I'm walking to a card-room. I find that they help me to focus.

I was just thinking of some other "concept" podcasts that I would like to hear on the way to my next game.

I would like to see an episode on three betting and an episode on identifying player types in live games.
  • LukaLuka Red Chipper Posts: 212 ✭✭✭
I would suggest a podcast on thin value betting, partly for selfish reasons because it is something I've been working hard at in my game :-)

    Topics could include:
    What is it?
    Bet sizing thin value bets.
Value owning (I find it reassuring to hear from the RCP coaches that sometimes this is going to happen and that it should happen otherwise you aren't thin enough)
Identifying when you're ahead of enough of villain's range that a value bet is correct.
    Advantages of thin value betting.

Just an idea, I feel like this is a skill that I don't see many players possess and it is an awesome one to have.

"How to handle a winning streak"

All poker forums and poker books talk about variance and how to handle a long string of losses. And that is important, especially the psychological and economical side of it. But almost no one talks about what to focus on when you keep winning all the time no matter how you play.

I think this is just as important a topic as how to handle losses. When you just keep winning your ego swells, you feel immortal and, as a consequence, you often relax your game and start playing more sloppy. And then, at last, when the downswing hits, it hits you when you are not conscious and focused on the basics of your play, often deviating from what you have previously known to be correct. It's not unlike hanging out from the side of your boat when the storm hits instead of standing behind the wheel planning the course ahead.
