Just moved to Bossier/Shreveport, LA area. Anyone ever play poker out here? Any information on the games? It seems only two poker rooms here, the horseshoe and the eldarado. Any redchippers in the area, give me a shout. Thanks

    Greetings Doc!

I am one of two red chip forum members in Dallas, and there is one in Austin. I haven't been to S/BC in about a year now, and I believe those are the only poker rooms. I think the rooms there are going to be better than what you will find in Texas or Oklahoma. (We used to drive out there pretty regularly, but its been a while.) I remember the games were pretty soft... Many degenerates would show up, cash their paychecks at the casino cage, piss it all away at the tables, and then leave.

Also some retired rocks there also. If an old man with a white beard raises you on the turn, or shoves on the river, he usually has it....

So if a Lonestar State Red Chip meetup ever happens, are you in?

If it fits the schedule for sure. I never know what uncle Sam has in store for me.

I love the Shreveport games. You will want to play at Horseshoe. Games are always very good, especially the deep stack ones.

Definitely Horseshoe... nice little room, have been going once a year for the last 8 years or so on a work group trip. I'm the other Dallas guy.

Great thing about Horseshoe, once you start getting room comps, they are transferable to Caesars properties in Vegas!!! Sadly not to Harrahs in New Orleans though.

Haven't been to Dorado in a while. The action there was pretty dead last time I went. I give them props though if they've found a way to keep the room open. Would be worth checking it out if you're living there.

Give us a report when you get time and tell us what you think.

Hi Doc, I know this is an older thread you started but wanted to reach out and see if you are still in the S/BC area. I'm new to RCP but I've been playing off and on at the Horseshoe and El Dorado for years. Here lately I've been getting to play a bit more than usual and if you played at all this weekend there's a good chance we were there at the same time. Anyway, if you or anyone else would ever care to meet up for a poker session or whatever, hit me up. I don't live in Shreveport but I'm just a short drive up the road in NE TX.

    Horseshoe update...
So yesterday was my first live game this year due to having a kiddo a couple of months ago and the Horseshoe now allows you to buy up to the largest stack at the table. It's been up to 50% of the big stack for as long as I can remember and when I asked the dealer about it, she said the change happened at the first of the year. An old reg chimed in saying the change has all but killed the 1/3 no cap and the 2/5 game, which really isn't a huge deal to me because the 2/5 game was infrequent enough and now the standard 1/3 game plays like a no cap game within a few hours after the table gets up and running. The table was good and I had a $1k stack in front of me when I had to leave and there were several $600+ stacks. Fishy/loose and weak/tight play were the norm as usual so I welcome the new change as I was able to buy up to the biggest fish at the tables stack and take advantage of him in a couple pots. I suppose the fish could go broke faster in theory but that's never seemed to be much of an issue as the 1/3 game has always played fairly deep, even before the change. So if you're looking for some deep stack play experience, head on over the the Shoe!
