Different Top % Ranges

When trying to study I am really curious how you guys feel about how players can construct different top % ranges. I am currently doing shortstack poker at my local casino (40BB) $2-$5NL and when using CardRunnersEV I notice that sometimes I get a different result when I shove over someone's top 5% or so range depending on how their range is constructed. My question is is one way to contruct a top 5% range much more popular than another so I can just use the more popular one by default. Am I just being penny-wise pound foolish to begin with? Thx! - Tony

if you moved the slider bar on most programs - I think it offers you hands based on hot/cold equity. So it might include AJs before includes 88 or 77. But there are a lot of guys I know who would prefer to include 88 or even 77 in their 5% range before adding AJs.

And when you're talking about shoving ranges - I know some that would rather have 55 than KQs... but this would depend on the opponent.

My suggestion is don't use the "slider's" suggested range. Watch and see what guys show up with. It will depend on the player and their experience.
