On Carbon, Should I Switch Sites

I only recently started my re-interest in playing poker online. Mostly because getting to a casino is tough for me without a car, I live in NYC. I have an account on Carbon with $100 in it. Played 10NL last night, nice soft game. But I read things about Carbon taking forever to withdraw. Betonline is legal in NY and seems to have a better rep for withdrawals and also has more traffic according to USPokerSites.us. Does it make sense to leave Carbon? I do like that Carbon is Pokertracker compatible. My goal is occasional trips to casinos and practice online.

I would. I've heard bad things about Carbon too so you may be wasting your time if you keep playing there.

    I play on Carbon.

Yes, it does take a long time to receive your check from them. Took about 5 months last time. But the check will come, by courier, and it will clear (you have to take it inside the bank, to the teller. And there is some paperwork to fill out). I haven't had a problem with payment other than the long delay, which doesn't really bother me.

The upside is that the software is top-notch, the games are soft, and due to the smaller player pool, you will familiarize yourself with the players very quickly (esp. w/ a HUD).

The tourney's are also pretty decent if you have an interest in those. I wouldn't give up just yet.

Disclaimer: I am in Texas, where the options are pretty slim. I also play on ACR, which i utterly despise. I've never withdrawn from ACR so I can't speak to that.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I have noticed quite a few new players on Carbon recently. Maybe they are allowing USA players again? Or maybe these are bots, who knows?

ACR is tougher but cash outs are received in 7-10 days and I've never had to fill out any paperwork at the bank just to cash a check.

I should clarify here... I despise the ACR software (and the inability to view mucked hands). The site itself is good and (I think?) the closest thing you're going to find to pre-black Friday. There is a much larger player pool if you are into playing several tables.

However, I don't know why... but ACR just gives me bad vibes. Weird. But I may be inclined to give it another try. For some odd reason I just feel comfortable on Carbon, even though it's less than ideal.

It may just be my bank but, yes, I have to go inside and fill out an "international check" form due to the checks being Canadian. And I can't argue that the last check taking 5 months is ridiculous.
