Online stakes/Quality of Play

I think I read SplitSuit mention that .25/.50NL online is equivalent to $2/$5 live, and that .10/.25NL online is $1/$2 live. Am I remembering this correctly? Thoughts?

Yes 10x the stakes is the general rule for comparison.

Some of that depends on where you play too. As an American in a no gambling state, I'm pretty much stuck with Ignition/Bovada or ACR. Those 2 sights are world's apart.

ACR is much much tighter with stiffer competition on the cash tables, even as low as 25NL. Bovada is the wild west. Players can and will shove with just about anything.

Bovada is just like the 2/2 table I played at Best Bet Jax last night!

    Yeah...I'm talking Bovada.

I'm just trying to find the right stakes to improve my game and utilize skills learned here.

Play elsewhere. Bovada will teach you bad habits. I honestly believe their software algorithms lead to more suck outs coolers and bad beats.

I could be wrong, but I switched to ACR after about a year of bovada and it's not nearly as common.

There is some nuances to take into account. Some sites are softer than other so NL30 on a specific sites is NL5 on Pokerstars so I would let a error margin big enough for those "conversions".

Bottom line it will be your job to assess the caliber in which you are playing.

Some NL 1/2 could be tougher than a normal 2/5 game at your local casino.

on average i think the skill gap is bigger

like others have said some online sites are softer/harder but I am pretty sure that most 2/5NL regs would be big dogs at 50NL online

You are 1/2 right - there are more suckouts and beats on Ignition becase there are more bad player, NOT some software issue

If you are just looking to practice just made smallish deposit and start grinding it up fro 10NL :)

Sometimes it's more than just a "gap" - I've seen live $1/2 games that are 100 times juicier than .01/.02 online games. It doesn't really scale.
