Poker in L.A?

Hi Guys,

Australian here visiting L.A, keen to play some poker here over the next couple of weeks.

I only play small stakes, within my bankroll.. 1/2, 2/3 NLH
Just played at the bike and what is up with the rake????
I talked to the dealer and he said it is like that in all of the card rooms in LA..
Is this true? Is it even profitable to play? do you have to implement a strategy to deal with the rake?

Where's the best place to play?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,
Dan

the main poker rooms are Bike, Hawaiian Gardens, the Commerce, the Hustler... and a few native American casinos on the outskirts.
I think you should be able to find out info on them via the "Bravo" app that's free to get from the app store.

    Welcome to the U.S.

Small stakes NL in LA is pretty much unbeatable. If your bankroll allows you to play slightly higher it will be to your advantage. The minimum I would play would Commerce's $5/5 $500 cap. Hawaiian Gardens and Hollywood Park may have a similar structures. Having said that, you should also consider the $5/5 $1,000 cap at Hustler and The Bike. Same drop structure in all these games.

If you feel like driving, there is always Pechanga and San Manuel each offer a 100bb $2/5 with a slightly lower drop. The downside is the drive from LA. Of course if you're going to drive to either of these casinos, you may as well keep on going to Las Vegas...

You'll find Commerce, San Manuel, and Pechanga on the Bravo App. The Bike is on Poker Atlas.

The rake is pretty high in Sydney as well, though its still 10% of the pot capped to a certain amount..
In LA they take $6-7 regardless of the pot size... get 4 limpers for 3 each, they still take $6 (50%) of the pot, or a 4X raise heads up to one opponent they could be taking 25% of the pot if you take it down after a Cbet.... Sickening

Usually, I play online poker at India. Here the rake system is quite decent when it compared to other countries.so, one can try his luck easily. probably you can find many online websites here the only thing you need to do is to keep some patience, take some time to the online search for the websites and app which are genuine and can be trusted.
