CardRunners EV Equilibrium Solver

I've made several posts on here in my short time with RCP but just to summarize: I've been around the game on and off - mostly off until a couple of months ago - for 3 years. It's always a long story but I've been in a much better, more productive position in life over the past year and as such, my poker game and level of commitment has increased tremendously. I'm playing and studying full time, beating 2NL on WPN @ +3 bb/100, and crushing 4NL on BOL. I'm getting ready to take shots above on both networks. I've played SNG's and MTT's, but at this point my focus is 98% cash with just occasional shots at juicy MTT's for now. You nor I can predict the future but I don't think this will change much. For numerous reasons, I greatly prefer the cash game.

Anyway, I have Flopzilla, Power Equilab, PT4, a sub here, and an essential sub to RIO. The only other thing that it looks like I could possibly need or benefit from at this point is a GTO solver. PIO Solver and others are extremely expensive, especially considering I'm in the micros. I'm not against the purchase, but it just seems like there's an alternative. I've seen that they've recently added an Equilibrium Solver to CardRunners EV that now allows you to perform similar functions at the deeper, more expensive solvers allow for.

CardRunners EV is $75 and seems like a good price, value, and fit for me to get my feet wet with these programs before I move up in stakes and invest in a more expensive product. That said, if I would greatly benefit from a $200-300 GTO solver purchase, please tell me so and why. Again, I'll buy what is going to give me the highest ROI but I also don't want to buy something that would be total overkill for the stakes I'm at right now. Obviously, when I move up to 10NL+, a $200-300 purchase would represent less of my overall bankroll than it does now. I have a few hundred on three sites and can deposit more if I need to as I have monthly income.

Any/all help and advice on this would be very much valued. It's the last thing I am considering purchasing at this point as I have just about every other front covered and am in a good position to just plow forward with volume/study.

CR equilibrium solver is nowhere near PIO. But it's a cheaper introduction but more complicated to use.

Adam Jones talks about this pretty extensively in his podcast. He points out that you can start with $75 and go up to $1000 but for most players, they probably won't use it very much or will use it incorrectly.

I downloaded the PIO solver free version to get a feel for it but I'll probably wind up grabbing CrEV for $75 because it does have the EQ Solver in it and apparently most people at much higher stakes don't even have these things. I was just wondering if the extra $200 (just to get your feet wet) with PIO solver was worth it. It doesn't look like it would be for me.

Honestly why just not buy CREV and simply use PIO free ? Turn and River play will still be plenty useful even without fop solved. I bought Pio Basic and you'll need a good PC to run flop scenario with multiple bet size and raise and standard ranges. even with basic 8 gig of RAM you wont be able to solve some scenario once you put 3 bet size and raise etc.

I tried GTO Range builder which is a nice alternative if you want to "get your feet wet". Try a basic month and see if you find it useful. It will cost you 1/2 less then CREV EQ solver. They host the servers for computation and they are fast.

Awesome, dude. I appreciate your responses and this will definitely set me off on my own. I think I'll wind up going the CREV EQ + PIO Free route. I'm also desperately trying to quit smoking right now and I think it's going to help me tremendously if I take the money I would have spent on cigarettes and put it into something that's both extremely profitable and enjoyable for me.

The cost of smoking a pack a day or slightly more in NY State is basically two live $1/2 buyins per month. I started doing the math while I was watching a RIO video that talked about life leaks, although for a couple of years now I've really wanted to quit. I hate it now and yeah...it's just literally burning money and destroying my health longterm. I'm lucky I got to the age of 35 while smoking heavily since 15 and not dying or developing cancer, copd, or any number of other wonderful things smoking brings with it. I don't think I want to push my luck any further.

Basically, since they don't allow smoking in the casinos, just sitting and breaking even at the $1/2 tables is like a $400/mo. profit for me as a non smoker. That's absolutely insane and a clear auto shove.

So, after watching this video and then playing around with the trial versions of PIOSolver and CREV, I'm going to go with CREV for now. PIOSolver *is* overkill for my stakes and CREV does everything I need it to and more for $75. The fact that you guys use it so frequently in your videos, and I already have Flopzilla, kind of makes it a no brainer.

more than a year ago i read this comment above. back then i was smoking for 30 years, was about 100kg of weight (220 lb) with 186 cm height (6'1").

i was smoking more than 40 cigarettes/day for the past 10 years, no sports, bad nutrition.

it was 27th of june, 2017 and while i was reading this thread, i had my 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee in front of me, was rolling my 6th or 7th cig for the day when i watched at the stuff in my fingers and was like: ok, thats it, i stop now.

said and done. i never looked back. i changed my live, havent logged in here since then, didnt play poker at all.
i changed my nutrition, bought a pair of running shoes, couldnt even run more than 300 meters before i had to stop and walk for a few min. it was horrible.
took me 30 min to finish that 3000m nature route close to my house.
but i didnt stop, i improved every week.

as of today i have lost 21 kg (46 lb)

last week i registered for my first official race. it will be a 10 km (6,2 miles) race in the town i live.

its amazing how fast your body revovers and what that body is still capable of if you stop smoking, have a good nutrition and do sports.

i am almost 48 years of age and i run that 10 km in training in 49 minutes already.

if you think about stopping to smoke. just do it. it changes so much, you wont believe it before you do it and see. i feel so free, so strong, so confident.

i started playing poker again just recently and i remembered that it was this thread that changed my life....for whatever reason. i dont care. i just thought i drop that in here and say thank you!
