Need more poker choices in Tampa

I'm in a perfect scenario. My wife and son are out of town and I am free to play as much as I want. I do my normal Saturday chores around the house grill a great steak and then I check my Bravo app. Its about 9 PM and this is the situation at the roomvv7tzbhv9mcl.png
They are running a high hand promotion every 30 minutes and for every 50 hours of live play you get $500. So a normal Saturday would have a quarter of that wait list but now I am looking at least an hour wait. Tampa needs more poker options!! Thank you for letting me vent! I am probably just going to wait until midnight and go in then. Thanks for letting me vent.

I have to drive 2.5 hours into the mountains to even get to play in a casino. Be thankful you have one nearby.

I am thankful. The room, action, dealers, and players are great here in Tampa. I was lamenting mostly because of my lack of strings and not being able to have a normal wait. My family gets back this week and my unhindered play time will be gone.

You can always try the dog tracks. The one in St Pete is pretty good--not a lot of game options, but it's an option anyway.

Do they offer a call ahead option?

@mdw72 how did your trip in the desert go last month after we played together at Bellagio? Hope all is well and the wait lists die down for ya. GL.

Can't understand why Hard Rock Tampa would build a brand new poker room and make it smaller than the old one. Beautiful room, far from action of table games that use to poor into the old room, far from food. In all very long waits mostly because the can never get dealers

@tfazio I didn't realize the new room was smaller. I only play there a few times a year, but I guess I just assumed it was bigger. I seemed to recall a small cafe style place in the back, but the old room was close to the food court which was nice. From the new room, you aren't getting to that food court any time fast!

Maybe some day I will get up there and we can slum it up? Or maybe we can do a RCP east coast at MGM in Maryland? I hear its really nice and the action is great. I sometimes go to DC for work?

They do not offer call ahead. I brought it up to the room manager some time back and he was cold to the idea. Many of the dealers have suggested it too but they still don't have it.

The trip ended on a very solid note. As you know I did terrible at the meet up at the Mirage and the short session I put in at the Rio. However, the Bellagio was good to me overall. In fact at my last table just before I left was great! I ran my initial buy in up to about 3K in a just over an hour and then cruised until it was time to leave. I used the money to buy the wife a birthday gift and made sure she knew how I got the money. I have a tentative green light for solo trip next WSOP time. Good luck to you too.

Funny story--last time I was in Tampa, I thought I called ahead and put my name on the list. When I arrived and went to check in, I told them that I had called in. They said that they don't offer that. Turns out, I called Hollywood Hardrock casino (also located in FL). Woops.

Not sure how deep in Tampa you are but they do have a place up I-4 towards Sanford. Orange City Poker. It's an option 33 tables

Fantastic. Glad you had a good finish and made momma happy. Hopefully we'll meet again next year.
