DMV/WV/PA area

This is to include the MD casinos, as well as Charlestown, Doverdowns, and even reaching up into the PA area. This area is always stacked with good games. @Travis put together an RPC meet-up at MD Live, but since then it's seemed MGM NH has taken over the scene.

I still like MD Live. Have not been to mgm as yet. Promos have been great at MD live since MGM came to town. And it just to damn easy for me to get to MD Live vs National Harbor.

I'm 'kinda' in this area - play at C town mostly but used to go to H'shoe or MDL on weekends.

Since MGM opened I usually go there - it's a more comfortable room than MDL, food is excellent

I normally play at MGM since I am about 30 miles south and Md Live is too much of a hike. Love the poker room and hoping to get there tomorrow afternoon.

I play st the Horseshoe Baltimore. I would certainly participate in a study group.

Hi folks! I'm a Marylander and when I play live, it's usually at MD Live (got fleeced at MGM when it first opened and haven't made it back there - plus the traffic is a beast if you're coming from the north). I'd love to have a meet up and a study group. Although MD Live is easiest, I'm happy to meet at the Horseshoe (prefer the feel of that room to all the others in the DMV), or MGM.
Definitely still trying to learn to be profitable and would love to have human interactions about poker (none of my friends play). Cheers!

As most of you know i play MDLIve quite often. I too have had the thought of a study group like the one in Vegas that meets one wednesay a month at a mexican restaurant. Ed Miller and Doug Hull both have been there more than a few times.
As for locally we can always meet at whatever time and place is convenient for folks. Currently i am too swamped with work to run with the ball on this, but happy to help

Good to see you @Travis! I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off as well and have played much live this year but would love to become a bit more routinized with my game and study. What do you think the best way for us all to connect and organize is - a Skype group? Here?

So far as meeting up, the beauty of Live is that it has the mall food court across the street, usually with lots of space. We could set times to meet there, study together for awhile, then go play. Personally, I would like to do that AND have some sort of regular online meeting where we can pick a topic of the week, month, do some personal study/reading and then chat about it.

When do most of you tend to play at Live? I'm there usually on Saturday or Sunday (sometimes both, during the day) and usually a couple of times during the week (day also).

For me it would be Sat/Sun and might be able to do a weeknight. I am lucky if I can get up there once every month or two but try if I knew folks would be there.

Hey there, anybody play regularly up at Charles Town? It's a little closer than Live/MGM for me and I'm there just about every weekend. It'd be great to meet up and talk some poker with y'all

Saturday at MD Live will be an insane place... Anniversary day say $1000 high hands every 15 minutes 11am to 11pm. Be there before 10 if you dont want to wait hours for a seat

Hi everyone I am new here and I also usually play at MD Live. Thanks for the tip @Travis for Saturday. I'm planning on being there Saturday but can't make it until later in the day. I'll keep an eye on the Bravo app and hope the wait list doesn't get too long.

    @Chris S
I am there semi regular. Text me when you are there 2404323038 or look for the guy with the funny tshirts. (That info alone and the dealers will know who you mean)

@Travis - Ok sounds good I'll probably just text you when i'm there and see which table you are at.

GL today guys, I won't be making it. I just checked Bravo, seems like it's packed WIN SOME HIGH HANDS AND TAKE SOME STACKS FOR ME!
  • Chris SChris S Red Chipper Posts: 55 ✭✭
I'm waiting for 1/2 and the line is over 150 people right now so I guess everyone got the message about the high hand promo

Was good to see a few RCP`s at high hand madness yesterday. No high hands for me but still a good 100/hr day. How did the rest of you do?
  • ChipDonaterChipDonater Red Chipper Posts: 15 ✭✭
Left after 7 hours down 80 at 1/2. First time away from home casino. I'm used to shorter tables lengthwise and "jumbo" markings on the card. I was stuck on the end and had trouble reading the board. Mucked my hand when opponent showed a 5 on what I thought was a A2234 board but was actually A2345. There was backlash when my local switched to the large-print cards but I missed them yesterday.
One guy at our table made a high hand with less than a minute left but lost it with 15 seconds left.
Dealers were fast and friendly. I guess it helps when they have their own tip bucket. Not so at home.

@ChipDonater seems you had a good time despite being dowm. At MdLive always get a seat change button as soon as you sit. Also you can request table change to a specific seat to help see better. At MD LIve take advantage of the large number of tables. Table change anytime you want... there can be a wide variance in play and player type from one table to another.
The high hands can get crazy. Guy on my table hit one with 1:45 to go and no hand on the board. 4 other hands went up right after with the last one getting in with only 5sec left

I did alright, I played 6 hours (after waiting 2.5 hours for a table) and I left up about 50 bucks. I didn't get any high hands. I was mostly involved in small/medium pots and nothing too crazy. I was card dead a lot of the day but I got a few decent hands here and there.

The one decent sized pot (200+ dollars) I was involved in I lost. I flopped top two pair (I had KQ suited) and the other person hit a set on the turn. I was out of position and the preflop raiser so I value bet the turn/river and he just called me down and didn't raise so I didn't think I was behind (the board was pretty dry) until he flipped over the set.

Overall there was some crazy action though and some people had some big stacks. There was 1 person at the table that limped almost every hand and would often call down 3 barrels with stuff like middle pair. He bought in 3 or 4 times and he paid a ton of people off.

Uhhg. the night before I made $700. On Saturday I lost $89. I was there early. I should have table changed. I won so many uncontested pots. Bunch of nits at my table. I couldn't even get a call with 3 limpers and I raised to $10 in SB. Of course that time I had aces. If I wasn't trying to win $1K high hand I would have played $2/$5 like I did the night before. I did have one HH for 2.5 minutes JJJJ. Quad aces beat it with 5 minutes left. Overall it was good times. I had one player compliment me by saying that I was playing "pretty aggressive". You were definitely right @Travis about getting there early. That wait list was whacked!
