Des Moines here - I've come down to KC once to play, hoping to come down weekend after next to getaway and log a few solid sessions.

What are your thoughts on the games down there?

Hollywood is by far the best run casino. I pretty much play there exclusively. The regs are better, but certainly exploitable. They have 1-3 pretty much all the time except early morning. They also have 2-5 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and most Saturdays. Harrah's can have some pretty crazy games at night, but they generally only have 1-2.
I've played in Council Bluffs, and the games in KC are noticeably different from the time I played in CB. Specifically, standard opens are between 15-25, and will still get multiple callers. And depending on when you are playing, there will be lots of button straddles, resulting in even bigger OR's. Good games

Thanks for the insight. What was most obvious when I was down there in April was that you could buy in for big stack, so even 1/2 was playing deep. That deterred me from coming back both for bankroll purposes and knowing that I wasn't as sound in deep stack poker as 100bb poker.

I've been reading up on the latter and am getting ready to give it another shot, even if I limit my exposure and start out at a 100 - 150 bb stack, depending on stacks at the table and to my left in particular.

What did you think of CB games? I haven't ventured over there yet.

Hollywood by far in KC is where the action is and they run the room very well. I play a few times a week and the action is intense however it is beatable; in 1-3, 2-5 and even the 20-40 limit games. I do not play PLO however there is insane action there. The one drawback in playing 1-3 at HW you are limited to 100 BB's and at times that is a huge disadvantage however at Harrah's in 1-2 you can match the big stack so the game plays a lot bigger and the swings can be insane. Good luck next time you are in town

I am not sure if anyone looks at this anymore, but I am in KC. Occasionally play at Harrahs. I am a NL Hold em Tourney player for the most part.
