Grinding goals for next 10 weeks
After 10+ years playing for a living I still suck at putting in the hours. So Starting yesterday I set goal to grind 400 hours in next 10 weeks(ending 1/31/2018)!
The basic plan to to play two 4 hours sessions most days and take advantage of living super close to casino. I am going to play am session then take break in afternoon(workout, time with girl, nap) and then hit it again in the evening. I am going to experiment with my normal study routine and refocus it around motivation/recovery/volume instead of my normal obsession with strategy.
anyone else have and grinding goal to share? lets get a head start on the new years resolutions!

@faustovaldez123 Good advice. In general I can do 8+ hour session as long as I have my 45m dinner break. My issue is sometimes I just take a day off, or go home dinner and don't come back :)
40 hours in the books!
Anyone else have some grinding goals?
There is really no upside to knowing my results in the short term so I just do my best to ignore normal ups and downs of the game. Then I can foucs on things I can control like playing my A-game, putting in the hours.......
Ive been slipping a bit on even this modest goal, and really need to push this harder. My usual 2 session day is 3 to 4 hours ....take a few hours break and then 3 to 4 hours again. But my goal has got to be push for 4 + hours on all sessions.
My goal thus becomes play at least 25 hours when I go down for 2 nights 3 days and 30+ hours when I go down for 3 nights 4 days.
God luck and kill it!
Thanks
I am a bit obsessive about my study sometimes at the expense of putting in the hours so for the next ~2 months I am going to focus more on grinding. My study routine(s) have waxed and wained throught the years but most recently it has been ~1 hour every am. The 400 hours will be played at 2/5 and 5/10 NLH and possible some 1/2/5PLO when it runs. I might add a little 200NL and 400NL online play into the mix if I feel the need to switch it up.
Go go !
I've been thinking about 2018 goals. I'm a part time player and my goal for 2017 was 500hrs played and $1200 profit, not counting online play. I only started playing this year after playing a few years after the poker boom and then taking the last 10 years off. So lots of adjustments. But I worked out a lot of kinks this year and should be set up for success in 2018. I'll hit the 2017 hours goal but will likely fall short on the profit goal barring a couple huge weekends. I'm committed to being a bankroll nit in 2018 and not having to take breaks for bankroll issues like I did this year. So I think I can hit 750hrs next year. Do any of you set profit/winrate/BB/hr goals or should that not be part of the thought process at all?
I rather not say which casino :)
I don't like results oriented goals in the short term, as I feel like they are just a distraction.
Out of curiosity, @kenaces do you set goals for those metrics (profit, hours, rate) in the long-term?
I also track everything. Only long term money goals are more related to building retirement nest egg. But much of this relates to monthly savings rate/investments....
LOL :)
I work full-time, so I am more of a recreational player, hence my goals:
