Global Poker / No More Paypal as of 6/30

Just woke up and saw the notice.
Immediately went to process a cashout of most of my profits there.
The website tells me cahsout success.
Then I get an email that they want my ID documents again, and they want me to give them my bank details through a link they sent me.
The link is asking for routing number and account number of a bank account.
(I am about as likely to send that to an offshore as I am to someone claiming to be an exiled prince)
So I email them back with updated ID documents, and ask them to process my cashout directly to the paypal account that I deposited with.

I am afraid I may have to run to a bank and create a separate empty savings account. I used to have one back in the day, but that was a LONG time ago.

Anyone want to set an over/under on how long this site lasts without paypal?

Depends on how other deposit/withdrawl methods work. I think there are many other poker sites that are doing OK without Paypal.

Yeah, I'm done with Global because of this. In addition, there was some issue them exposing people's records including bank info. Be very careful.

Aren't they going to start using Visa and such for deposit and withdrawl?

I suggest people try out nitrogensports.eu poker. I'm not affiliated with them. Just bypass the gov and bank issues and use bitcoin for deposits and withdrawals. Nitrogen seems to have an okay amount of traffic, and the same software for their poker games as Global uses.

I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with Global. They definitely botched the transition from PayPal to Worldpay, but Worldpay is a legitimate payment processor and a publicly traded company.

I requested my funds on the 25th, sent my driver’s license and the first page of a bank statement, and received the funds on the 27th.

I don't want to be the voice of doom here, but this is all starting to sound horribly familiar. Payment options go from something everyone uses to something many have never heard of, next thing you know your deposits are getting tagged as "500 golf balls." Be careful.

Yes, everyone should be careful. But this isn’t some no-name company processing the payments.
In July 2017, Vantiv announced its intention to acquire Worldpay for $10.4 billion. Subsequent announcements have indicated that the combined entity will be named "Worldpay," headquartered and listed in the United States, but internal operations will be based in the U.K. In August 2017, Vantiv announced that it would acquire Worldpay. The transaction was completed on 16 January 2018.

If/when Global does switch to some shady operator to process payments, then I’d be concerned. But that hasn’t happened yet.

Porter the real question is; Why PayPal leave the site.

Porter the real question is; Why PayPal leave the site.

Tough to answer though. It ranges from "they are worried about legality" to "they are social engineering nitwits."

I haven't read anything indicating that it was PayPal's decision and not Global's. I can think of many reasons why Global might chose to switch to a new payment processor.

I got a cash out very fast with the new system. Also, I have more rights using my Visa directly than I do with PayPal. So far so good.
The part that concerns me is the free money giveaways. I guess casinos do some form of that but it makes me nervous. Maybe they are trying to retain nervous clients.

Hopefully the giveaways are simply kicking back a little rake.

Just to update from my original post, Global denied all of my pay pal withdrawal requests even though they were made before 6/30. I did open a brand new bank account for cash-out, but Global required an actual bank statement (they refused to take a deposit slip or a bank letter), and for just about every bank, it takes a month before they will generate a statement. I did find a low balance savings account I had, emptied it, sent them the info, and it took them about 5 days from then to move the lions share of my profits into there successfully. (I did pretty good my first 7-8 months or so on Global, my fault I wasn't cashing out along the way...) I still stand behind my statement that its a very bad idea to send an off shore banana-del-sur like these guys bank routing information for an account with any money in it at all.

That said, I left behind plenty on the site, its growing again, I will try to meet up with you guys on the next Global night.

Well joe, we are going to to be adding Nitrogen, a BTC only site, for safety and diversity, to the group play nights.

My bank had the wrong address on my online statements. So I had to wait until the end of the month to get a proper statement. But in any event I wouldn't have known my bank still had the wrong address after 2 years if I hadn't had to do this.
